This interactive simulation presents a side-by-side comparison of two identical energy systems: one fully reliant on the electric grid and the other supplemented with solar panels. Users begin by customizing key variables through a control panel—such as electricity price, daily usage, number of solar panels, average sun hours, and panel manufacturing type. Once the simulation is launched, it tracks energy consumption, costs, and emissions over the course of a full year, dynamically updating a visual timeline that shows how both systems perform day by day. At the end of the simulation, two comparison tables summarize the results. The economic table highlights the installation and purchase costs of solar panels, estimating the break-even point when the solar investment becomes more profitable than staying on-grid. The sustainability table compares CO₂ emissions between both systems, factoring in the emissions from solar panel production and calculating how many years it takes for solar to offset its own environmental cost. Together, these tools offer a compelling, data-driven insight into the financial and ecological benefits of solar energy.
