A diagram simulating experience gain and loss through slaying enemies/bosses and player death and the usage of skill points in Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.

  • Sekiro fights regular enemies, and from time to time, bosses
  • Boss fights are much harder and have a much higher probability of killing the player
  • Sekiro earns XP whenever he kills an enemy, and a lot of XP when killing a boss
  • If Sekiro dies, he loses half of his XP. Upon reaching a new level the required XP is spent to level up
  • When Sekiro dies, there is a 30% chance he will receive “Unseen Aid”, allowing him to retain his current XP
  • On the upgrade tree, some skills can only be attained until obtaining prerequisite skills
  • Skills have a different cost, ranging from 1 point to 5 points
